With only two-and-a-half months to submit your entry application and seven months until the first Junior Adventure Racing World Championship, there is little time to select your teams.
We have developed this guidance document outlining three recommended selection models. We encourage you to review these options and choose the method that best suits your national adventure racing landscape and development goals. Each country should aim to get their two teams to the event for this first year, while working on building and implementing a robust qualifying and selection structure for 2027.
Team Selection Models
Method 1: The National Championship Model
This is a straightforward, merit-based approach that is ideal for countries with an established youth racing community. This method involves organising a single, designated race to serve as the national qualifier. The top-placing pair in both the Youth and Junior categories will earn the right to represent your country at the World Championships.
Method 2: The Ranking System Model
For nations with multiple youth-focused races throughout the year, a ranking system is an excellent way to reward consistent performance. This model requires you to designate a series of 2-3 races and create a point system to track team performance. The teams with the highest cumulative points at the end of the qualifying period will be selected. This approach reduces the pressure on a single event and rewards sustained excellence.
Method 3: The Application & Committee Selection Model
This flexible model is recommended for countries with a developing or small adventure racing scene. Instead of a mandatory race, teams can submit an application detailing their experience, race history, and a statement of purpose. A dedicated selection committee will then review all applications and choose the most suitable teams based on a holistic assessment of their potential, skills, and commitment to the sport.
