MEDIA RELEASE Next week, 38 junior adventure racing teams from 10 countries will arrive in Temiscamigue, Quebec, Canada for the first Junior Adventure Racing World Championship.
This event, a project initiated by AR World Series CEO Heidi Muller, has been years in the making. The host race Raid Témiscamingue is organised by Endurance Aventure and made possible through funding from the Region of Temiscamigue. As a partner, the International Adventure Racing Association (IARA) brought together adventure racing national associations and countries to enter their representative teams.
For this race, teams compete in pairs in two age categories: U18 and U25. Pairs are classified into women, men and mixed. Paired teams were specified for entry instead of the traditional adventure racing four-person team format to minimise expenses, accommodate more teams from many countries, and for race logistics with two-person canoes being used.
Countries represented by junior teams include: Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, India, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Uruguay and USA. With the race in their backyard, Canadian and American teams are well represented. Special mention goes to France, who are sending eight pairs spanning every age and team category for this inaugural junior world championship event.

“We thank all team coaches, parents, guardians and adventure racers who have helped and supported teams to get to the world champs. We all know that getting to the start line is often the biggest challenge”.

With this inaugural Junior Adventure Racing World Championship event, a milestone is being established in the history of the sport of adventure racing.”
This three-day, staged event starts on Friday, 24 July 2026 with a fun prologue race with teams racing alongside young local athletes before the competition ramps up with two stages Saturday and Sunday.
